Connerton is comprised of 8,000 acres and was originally a working cattle ranch owned by generations of the Conner family. When the family sold the land to Connerton’s first developer, both parties came together and strategically created a plan that would preserve the majority of the property.
In 2003, the State of Florida purchased the 3,000-acre tract to be managed by the Southwest Florida Management District with $26 million of Forever Florida conservation funds. This means that future generations of Connerton residents will be able to enjoy the same natural beauty and pristine environment that residents appreciate today.
Connerton’s 3,000-acre nature preserve is home to numerous species of wildlife and is a haven for outdoor enthusiasts. As you make your way through the pristine environment, be on the lookout for creatures that share their home with you such as deer, owl, sand hill cranes, blue heron and otters.
Walkers, bikers and runners relish the miles of boardwalks and trails that wind throughout the community. Wide sidewalks and well-lit neighborhood streets make it safe to walk or ride bikes any time of the day. There are gorgeous parks and verdant open spaces that inspire residents to put away phones, tablets and game boxes, and come outside and play.
When you do have to get in your car Connerton is a convenient drive to metropolitan Tampa via I-75, U.S. 41 or the Suncoast Expressway. Shopping, dining and movie theaters are minutes away and a state-of-the-art acute care hospital with 50 private rooms is located right here in Land ‘O Lakes.
In addition, all three schools – Connerton, Elementary, Pine View Middle School and Land ‘O Lakes High School – are A-Rated educational facilities. There are also numerous private schools from which to choose.
